About Christianity
Christianity is about a relationship. It's a relationship with, fundamentally, God, our heavenly father. Why? Because God loves us and cares about us.
The relationship is possible through Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God - hence Christianity. So, a Christian is someone who believes in Jesus and follows his teachings.
"If anyone is in Christ, (s)he is a new creation. The old has passed away; the new has come." * Christianity is about a new beginning, a fresh start, forgiveness, love.
* 2 Corinthians 5, v 17.
The relationship is based on prayer - the way we can communicate with God. There are many ways to pray, from the arrow prayer which just says "Help!", through formal and informal prayers. A good starting place is the Lord's Prayer (see below, if necessary).

The Lord's Prayer (old language)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our tresspasses,
as we forgive those who tresspass against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the Kingdon, the Power and the Glory
for ever and ever,
Amen
