 Shrewsbury Youth For Christ

The s-yfc team are committed to serving schools and helping young people in a variety of ways. We work alongside staff to provide a service that contributes to school life, whether through formal settings such as lessons, or informal meetings with young people. In everything we do our aim is to bless the community, and show how Jesus is still relevant and can impact young lives in a positive way.

At Shrewsbury Youth for Christ we are passionate about working together with local Christians to take good news relevantly to every young person in Shrewsbury. We aim to:

‘Work with local churches and create genuine partnership in reaching out to young people in Shewsbury' We want to build on our past history of  good relationships with local  churches and continue to build thriving and mutual relationships with these groups. As churches continue to support us in prayer and giving, we aim to support local churches in training, networking and facilitating communication.

We'd love you to get alongside us in prayer, giving and volunteering. Please get in touch through our website.

Shrewsbury Food Bank

Shrewsbury Food Bank, operates from Barnabas Community Church. It is run entirely by volunteers, provides parcels of food to those that find themselves in real times of hardship. This service is offered throughout Shrewsbury.

People are referred for help by a local Agency, Charity or Church when found to be in a genuine crisis. Shrewsbury Food Bank assists with food to help them through their crisis period. Those referred may be in debt, have lost their job, suffered ill-health, family breakdown, bereavement, delays in benefits or homelessness or a combination of many issues. Not surprisingly, in the current economic climate demands on the service are particularly high.

Shrewsbury Food Bank relies entirely on donations of food and money to provide this service as well as the team of volunteers that run it. It is supported by many of the churches in the town.
